This is the incredible moment a humpback whale soaked tourists when it jumped from the ocean just inches from their boat.
The footage, taken by whale watchers aboard a neighbouring boat, captured the close encounter near the coast of Quepos, Costa Rica.
It began as a bird skated the apparently calm water, the camera swaying up and down with the ocean.

All remained still for a few moments – before a huge humpback whale suddenly breached the water to their left.
The whale gracefully jumped into the air, its entire body leaving the ocean for a few seconds.
It then landed on its front – sending an enormous splash over a nearby tourist boat as it sank back under the water.
The enormous humpback is then seen swimming away from the two boats, its back momentarily visible, before disappearing into the ocean.

The area is a prime site for whale-spotting but such close encounters are rare – despite this being best time of year to spot the creatures in the Pacific ocean.
Although most of the tourists were soaked to the bone from the enormous splash, delighted passengers can be heard shouting ‘Oh my God!’ at the incredible scene.
But one woman was unnerved by the proximity of such a massive creature.
She can be heard saying: ‘I’m scared now. It’s so close.’
