A Pakistan politician was left red-faced after his press conference was accidentally streamed live on Facebook with a cat filter was turned on.
The online stream of regional minister Shaukat Yousafzai briefing journalists went viral on Friday after his social media team mistakenly activated the filter.
“I wasn’t the only one – two officials sitting along me were also hit by the cat filter,” Mr. Yousafzai told AFP news agency.
Immediately, comments started pouring in as Facebook users noticed pink cat-like ears and whiskers had appeared on the very serious politicians.
There’s “a cat in the cabinet,” one said. Others were more literal: “Shaukat Yousafzai looks like a cat – Meow meow meow.” However, the live stream continued.
This video was deleted minutes after the press conference from the official Facebook page of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.
However, images from the press conference were still available on social media.
Yousafzai confirmed the incident and told AFP it happened by accident.
“The cat filter was turned on by mistake”, Yousafzai said. “Let’s not take everything so seriously,” he added.
